Often asked what brought the couple to the real estate game, John Percudani says that there was no better fit for them. Originally a town planner, John saw an opportunity in the commercial sales and leasing sector of the Perth market. Throwing their dedication and time into a new business, the pair pushed ahead with big dreams and high hopes, starting their business on the 1st of April 1989.
Though beginning their journey on April Fool’s day, it was definitely no laughing matter. Sharing their story, John discusses the initial challenges of opening a business, admitting that “of course there were hard times, but that is business”. With two young daughters and everything on the line, they knew they would have to work hard to make their dream come true. And work hard they did.
Realmark stands today as a business with more than 250 team members, operating across multiple metro and reginal suburbs. The shift from a solely commercial focus, to a more holistic offering, introduced the need for a greater diversity of team members and larger premises to house them.
Realmark started from very humble beginnings, and what remains of the utmost importance to the management team. This mentality is intrinsic to the success of the business as it moves forward. When asked about the kind of people Realmark like to bring into their business, John said: “it is important to surround yourself with people who are thriving for the same values in delivering to clients and support these people to do their best”. The values of family-first have always been a defining feature in Realmark. They truly believe in creating a culture through their business that supports each and every member. With a daughter and two sons-in-law working in Realmark, there is a strong focus on remaining true to their WA roots and always remembering why the business began.
Looking back over the 30 years, John and Anita are immensely proud of every person who has come through their doors. The Realmark group remains the most award agency in WA, just this year, Realmark was recently awarded one of the highest honours in the WA real estate industry, the RIEWA Marketing and Communications Excellence award. This award recognises the real estate business in WA who has excelled in the delivery their business and product to the market, delivering results for their clients. “We would not be where we are today without all the people who have been involved in this business” John and Anita Percudani truly believe in the power of people.
