Conondale National Park is a beautiful 35,000-hectare eucalypt forest in the Conondale Range. Located on the Sunshine Coast, Conondale is just 2 hours North West of Brisbane and well worth the drive. If you love hiking, four-wheel driving, camping, waterfalls with crystal clear water, or just any kind of adventure, Conondale National Park should definitely be your family’s next big 4×4 driving adventure.

The Best Things to See and Do in Conondale National Park?
Conondale National Park is a 4WD enthusiast’s playground. If you intend on visiting this beautifully scenic part of Queensland, you’ll need to travel by four-wheel drive – particularly high clearance 4WD vehicles. All of the camping areas in Conondale’s Booloumba Creek (areas 1, 3 and 4) are only accessible by high clearance 4WD, and the park itself has tracks that are suitable for all sorts of skill levels. Your offroad caravan would be perfect for this part of the Sunshine Coast. It makes a great place to take the family while putting your skills to the test.

Booloumba Falls
Booloumba Falls is arguably South East Queensland’s prettiest waterfall and definitely worth the 3-hour hike.

Marvel as you walk through massive open forest and uncover Booloumba Creek’s picturesque cascades, waterfalls and rock pools. Once you’ve made your way to the lookout, make sure you make time to take in the majesty of the Breadknife, a rock formation formed at the meeting of Peter’s and Booloumba Creeks.
Gold Mine Bush Walk
Go on a hike through the rainforest towards an old gold mine from the 1920s, long since closed. The walk offers spectacular views of Booloumba Creek, and you can still see the mine’s entrance.
Fritz Park
Take a packed lunch and have a picnic at Fritz Park, a beautiful little place near the Mary River. The park is an important refuge for many endangered native animals, including the Mary River turtle.
Kenilworth
A small town with a big heart, Kenilworth is a must visit on your trip to Conondale National Park. The town has a lot going for it, with a surprisingly excellent museum, two art galleries, and a cheese, yoghurt and ice cream factory. You definitely don’t want to miss out on the bakery, either.
